Our last wedding of 2019 – An Indoor Festival of Love!

We count our lucky stars every day to be approached by couples who are bold enough to do things their own way. Gone are the days when weddings were boring and predictable and with Delia and Phil, a couple who chose to get married at HMT last Nov, nothing was too magnificent or impossible.

When they told me that Delia’s background was in theatre, and that she wanted to include live roaming musicians, an aerial performer and a top-secret, but highly intriguing bridesmaid speech/song, I knew our last wedding of 2019 was going to be a lively one.

From the word go, Delia made it clear that she was a natural-born crafter and designer, and would be spending months leading up to the wedding making all kinds of beautiful things to decorate Manchester’s best-loved urban wedding venue – Hope Mill Theatre. When it came to the set-up day, we were all amazed by the gorgeous hanging willow hoops that she’d painstakingly put together, which were then draped with ivy and foliage taken from her father’s autumnal garden.

Delia and Phil hired our rustic trestle tables and laid the room out in a traditional three rowed banqueting feast style. We spent all day dressing the tables with colourful pops of flowers that matched the bouquets we made for the bridesmaids, the pinholes for the groomsmen and ushers and, of course, the bride herself.

Alternative Weddings MCR also arranged a gorgeous large arrangement that was used at the ceremony earlier in the day at The People’s History Museum, and then made its way to HMT for the evening, to take pride of place on top of their piano.

Food was provided by Chaat Cart, a tasty mixture of mouth-watering curries and Indian street food on sharing platters that the guests absolutely loved and then evening treats were provided by Horse Box Pizza.

But the real surprises came after the evening guests began to arrive, because not only did Mr Wilson’s Second Liner‘s deliver a characteristically blistering set of 90’s dance hits in a New Orleans jazz band style (we’ll let you imagine how awesome that was!) but aerial performer Aurora Starr treated the bride and groom to a specially choreographed performance before the party really got into full swing. She even let them pose for a quick photoshoot on her special moon hoop.

Needless to say, the spirits were in full flow and Delia and Phil had the absolute time of their lives. So did we, and we couldn’t have ended 2019 with a bigger bang!

CONGRATULATIONS GUYS – MAY YOUR LIVES TOGETHER BECAUSE AS COLOURFUL AND WILD AS YOUR WEDDING!
