Recommended by Us :: The Indie Wedding Fair

Have you noticed just how many wedding fairs there are up and down the country? Hundreds, literally hundreds, and sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between them.

As busy wedding planners it’s important for us to spend our time wisely and going to every single fair just isn’t an option. We only visit the most interesting and original fairs, with artisan suppliers who avoid the corporate hard sell and really care about what they do. We keep our weddings alternative by looking beyond the most current trends and finding potential new ones. Style, fun and uniqueness are what we’re always looking out for and it’s wonderful to find suppliers who value the same.

The Indie Wedding fair, run by Elinor Softley of Soft Touch Events, is a wedding fair with a difference that really caught our attention last year when we took our rustic trestle tables for their first showcase. It supports only independent suppliers who’ve perfected their handcrafted skills, and you could really tell it was all about the love from the quality of the things on their stalls. Held in a tepee in Sale back in 2016, 2017 sees it move to a new industrial warehouse venue in Sheffield on Burton Rd. Rustic, vintage, country garden, asymmetric urban designs, rainbow floral, it’s all welcome and if last year was anything to go by it will be super inspiring for couples and wedding planners alike.

The atmosphere is relaxed and informal with live music, good vibes and the opportunity to chat face to face with the people who could help put those finishing touches to your big day. Fire performers and aerial hoopists were swinging from the trees outside last year’s event, Soft Touch Events really pulled out all the stops! Pie Eyed mobile catering served delicious homemade pies from a renovated horse box and knock-out bridal suppliers like the incredible Fokey Dokey and Alice’s Vintage Pantry were there – so we can only guess how they’ll out do themselves this year.

Costing a modest sum of £7 entry which includes a free glass of bubbly and a ‘tat free goodie bag’ (quoted from their website – love it!) this fair is a bargain. If you’re in the area we guarantee it will not be a waste of your time! Sunday 30th April – 92 Burton Rd, Sheffield S3 8DA, UK.
